I am nostalgic for hat boxes and chivalry, but fear both have fallen out of favor since Dickens. As a child of the 80s, I remember neon’s first debut. Not being quite old enough to appreciate its true fluorescence, I am pleased with its recent resurgence. I dream of a waking up to a view of palm trees from my window. I long for Polaroid photos. I like gelato in odd flavours – gorgonzola or lavender to name two.
A luddite at heart, I am a late adopter of social media. I am finding it contagious though, which reinforces my curiosity. I won’t stop sending postcards, buying magazines, nor hunting for vintage, but I am also making room for new media. I suspect one day, it too will become something of nostalgia.
